A Warm Winter Gathering at Energy Garden

On a rainy and chilly December afternoon, our Ebury Edge HQ was again filled with warmth, good food, and even better company as thirty-six guests — neighbours, volunteers, garden groups, partners, and many familiar faces — joined us for the Energy Garden Winter Fair.

We were especially delighted to welcome several of our Youth Training Programme graduates, who spent the afternoon reconnecting and celebrating with us.

That day, we opened our office with a refreshed display across our walls, featuring:

  • End-of-year reflections and updates from our 18 Energy Gardens,

  • Highlights from the Community Treescapes programme,

  • Summaries from Horticulture, Biodiversity and Community Science

  • Milestones from our Education programme

Guests took their time reading stories from the gardens, catching up on garden progress made this year, reading about the people behind each project, and previewing what garden groups hope to grow in 2026.

Against the backdrop of cold UK weather, our kitchen station became the heart of the celebration.
We enjoyed what was truly a team effort:
🥣 Gorgonzola cheese soup by Martin
🎃 Pumpkin soup by Aga
🥕 Vegetable stew + Guinness bread by our Community Bread Officer, Brandon
🍷 Mulled wine (spiced to perfection!) by Ellen
☕ Hot chocolate by Beatrice

The combination of warm bowls, comforting spices, and the hum of conversation made the space feel like an antidote to a grey December sky.

Callum led a cosy seasonal greeting card workshop, using repurposed Tetra Pak and a pasta roller for pressing patterns into the designs, and many guests left with handmade cards to gift or display at home.

Closing the Year with Gratitude

We hope everyone who joined us had as wonderful a time as the team did.
As we look ahead to 2026, we look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces — carrying forward the community spirit that makes Energy Garden what it is.

From all of us at Energy Garden,
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Thank you for being part of our growing community.
